In my mid-40s, I experienced the sudden onset of debilitating chronic pain and fatigue. After months of consulting specialists, undergoing tests, and scans, I was finally diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis (an autoimmune condition) and fibromyalgia.
Alone and struggling to manage the mental and physical impact of these conditions, I felt frustrated, hopeless, and resigned to the belief that I would always be this way.
I was forced to give up my job, my long-term relationship broke down, and my teenage daughter became my carer. I lived day-to-day on prescription medication, fearful of my condition and what the future held.
All my mid-life dreams and aspirations were disrupted—or so I thought.
During yet another weekend of crippling fatigue, I stumbled upon Dr. David Hamilton's audiobook, "How Your Mind Can Heal Your Body."
Hearing the success stories of people changing the outcomes of their chronic conditions, I thought, maybe, just maybe, there is a way out of this. If they can do it, why can't I?
Of course, my mind and body were telling me otherwise, but deep down, I knew I had to do something or I'd regret never trying.
So, I embarked on a personal journey to focus on my wellness, not my diagnosis. Even making that decision alone felt empowering. I'll never forget the energy and hope it gave me.
I delved deeper into the mind-body connection and adopted several practices and tools to enhance my mental and physical health, gaining relief from pain, and lifting the fatigue and brain fog. Eventually able to come off the prescription medication.
All of this sounds great, but it didn't just happen overnight. At the start of my journey, I knew I needed a method to help me sustain my healing routine take consistent action, and create habits without feeling overwhelmed.
So, I created my own! I still use it today and with my clients: The PACE Micro Method—Three weeks Pacing your way to Achieving wellness with Confidence and Ease through Micro-actions.
One vision, two dimensions, three micro-actions
I once truly believed I would never feel better and that life would never be the same again. But after going through my own journey to activate healing, I’ve made it my purpose to help others to achieve their own vision of wellness.
We all have the ability within us to make a change, but sometimes we need a little help—a guiding light to show us the what and how. I’m here, ready to hold that torch for you!
